ANNUAL REPORT- 2010-11

 

A very good evening to you all.  Most honourable Sh.A.J.Shah, Chairman VMC and Dist. Collector Surat, VMC Members, PTA members,  Principal, K.V. No.3, ONGC,Principal K.V.Kribhco, distinguished guests, Parents, staff members and very lovely children.

 

I’m extremely privileged to extend a warm and cordial welcome to all of you this fine evening to celebrate the Annual function of our Vidyalaya. This day is very important as we take stock of the activities of the whole year. This session has been very purposeful and fruitful. It has witnessed many milestones of excellent achievements in Academics, Co-curricular activities, Sports and games which all aim at improving the quality of education and all round development of students.

 

I am extremely proud of the dedicated team of teachers who offered their energy, effort and continued support in motivating students to participate in various activities (Scholastic and Co-scholastic), conducted within and outside the Vidyalaya. Truly, the Vidyalaya has an amiable atmosphere for proper teaching and learning. Our genuine goal is to provide quality education to our students. Our Vidyalaya is second to none as teaching and learning happens in a caring and purposeful environment where each and every member of the school community is valued. The KV team joins the parents and community to assist the students in developing skills to become independent and self sufficient adults who will succeed and contribute responsibly in a global community.    

 

 It is a matter of great pride to present before you the Annual Report of our Vidyalaya focusing on the various activities and programmes organized during the academic session 2010-11. Kendriya Vidyalayas were set up with the objective of providing best education to the children of defence personnel’s and transferable government employees and even private sector.  KV No. 1, Ichhanath, Surat adheres to this objective in word and deed through various academic, co-curricular activities and Games and sports.

 

ACADEMICS:  The academic year was exceptionally good.  Students of classes X and XII scored very good marks.   

 

The overall result of class XII was 92%. Mast. Atur Somani scored highest in the Science stream with 85.8%. Ku Kavya Yadav topped the Commerce stream with 78.4%., Ku. Mukulika Baghel of Arts stream topped the class with 83%.

 

CBSE introduced the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation last year beginning with class IX for students up to class X. This year we had the first batch of Class X students who appeared for their exams as per the CCE pattern. I am proud to announce that 4 students of our Vidyalaya scored 10 on 10 CGPA.

CCE system is now applicable to all classes and accordingly Orientation Program has been organised to explain this concept to parents.

The school result for other classes was 100% except XI science which had 99.08%.

 

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:  Various co-curricular activities are organized in the Vidyalaya for the all round development of children.  These activities are carried out through out the year through various competitions held among four houses.  These competitions include literary, cultural and sports.  The students have been awarded the prizes the following week after the competitions.  Nearly 500 students have won prizes in these competitions.

 

SPORTS AND GAMES:  Sports and games is an integral part of education and our Vidyalaya has always contributed a lot to the over all development of the students. Our Vidyalaya has certain unique facilities. It is bestowed with a fully functioning  25 meter swimming pool along with an exotic air conditioned Gymnasium comprising latest imported gadgets and aerobic exercisers.

  The Cluster level Swimming and Table Tennis competitions were held in our Vidyalaya in the month of August and we hosted the Regional Level Table Tennis competition.

 14 girls and boys of the Vidyalaya have represented the Region at KVS National level events in Kabbadi, Kho-kho, Chess, Cricket, Athletics, Skating and Swimming. It is a matter of great pride to announce that our student Ma.Koshy Abraham of XI – Com participated in SGFI Meet held at Solapur for Swimming.

Our students did us proud by participating in the Gujarat state organised Khel Maha Kumbh and securing positions at the district and State level competitions in Chess, Badminton, Relay, Long Jump, Shot Put and Javelin Throw.

 

This year the Annual Sports Day was held on 28th Nov 2011.

 

SCIENCE EXHIBITION: Our Vidyalaya participated in the KVS Science Exhibition.  The theme for this year was “Climate change; Green energy; Disaster Management, Mathematical Modelling and Environmental Conservation and Agriculture and Technology”. The exhibits included working models, static models, power point presentations, reporting and collection of data.  Children participated at Vidyalaya level as well as Regional level.

 

 GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING:  Under this, various counselling   career opportunities available for 12th Science, Commerce and Humanities streams after plus two. Mr. Vaibhav Parikh of HR Training and Development Solution gave a talk on Strengthening Lives.  Paradise Institute guided our XII Sci students on how to prepare for AIEEE, IIT-JEE and GUJ-CET. Educomp Solution addressed our Commerce students on “The global career of Chartered Accountant”. PT education conducted a seminar of Common Law Admission Test. Institute of language Studies and Applied Social Science guided our XII batch on the courses available in BA Journalism, Mass Communication, Politics and International Relations, Applied Psychology etc.

 

SOCIAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION: 32 students participated at the Cluster Level Social Science Exhibition cum National Integration Camp held at K V ONGC Ankleshwar in the month of Sept. The state and country chosen for this year was Arunachal Pradesh and Portugal

 

This year, we successfully hosted the Regional level Social Science Exhibition cum National Integration Camp in the month of October.  Various cultural and literary competitions were conducted. Out of the selected lot many won prizes at National level which was held in Lucknow.

 

SCOUTS and GUIDES:  Total 320 students participated in this noble activity as Scouts, guides, cubs and bulbuls.   Various training camps and activities were organized. Shri M.J Kathiriya attended the training for Advanced Scout Masters at Mumbai. Shri B.T Ganvit, Mrs Jyoti Rajpurohit and Mrs. Deepmala attended Basic Training camp at Mumbai and Pune. Three Scouts, Ma.Pankaj Barik;Ma. Vishesh Joshi and Mas Ishan Agarwal attended the Pre-Rajya Puraskar selection camp and Rajya Puraskar testing Camp at KV Sabarmati and KV Ankleshwar. Their activities were well appreciated by Deputy Commissioner Madam Laxmi Chari and all National Level Officers.5 Scouts and 6 Guides attended the Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp. Dwitiya Sopan and Pratham Sopan TestingCamp were conducted with two night stay in the Vidyalaya. Tree plantation, Flag Day celebration and Khari Kamai Utsav was also organised at school level. Principal Shri K.K Gupta has also been appointed as the District Commissioner (Scout) for Tapi Region.

 

 

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS: Not only in school, but our students have performed exceptionally well in the various competitive exams conducted by various external agencies. In the 13th National Science Olympiad, organised by Science Olympiad Foundation, Mast. Poojan Patel secured first rank at the school level and 379th rank at the National level. He was awarded cash prize of Rs.500/- by the Olympiad Foundation. He won the first prize at the Regional Level Quiz and has been selected to participate at the National level for Quiz which has been organised under the celebration of International year of Chemistry. He was also awarded the first prize for the Best Position Paper at the Mock United Nations Parliament held at Delhi Public School, Surat. Kum. Aradhana secured the Second position at the Inter School Elocution Competition organised by the Young Orator’s Club. Kum. Shreshtha and Kum. Aradhana secured the second position in the Debate competition at the Cluster Level.

Mas. Shreyansh and group of XI Com and XI Sci participated in the Inter School Marketing Competition held at J.H.Ambani school and secured Second position.36 students appeared for the NTSE exam. Our students also appeared in Maths Olympiads. 5 students got selected for the State Level GK Olympiad and 7 students got selected for the State level International Maths Olympiad.  Our Students also participated in the Drawing Competitions and won prizes.

This Vidyalaya is also fixed as centre for prestigious examinations like IIT GATE, IIT JEE, AIEEE and CTET.

 

Teacher’s Achievements:

Our teachers too showed their excellence in their fields. Mr. M.J Kathiriya, Yoga teacher was presented the KVS National Incentive award by the Hon HRD Minister Shri Kapil Sibal at a glittering function held at New Delhi. This is the first award in the history of this Vidyalaya since its inception.

Madam Daksha Gupta PRT  was also presented National Incentive Award by the Hon HRD Minister Shri Kapil Sibbal  at New Delhi for her outstanding contribution in this noble profession.

She has also been selected for  the Six weeks Virtual Training and four days in class training at the Project Learning Institute organised by Oracle Education Foundation America in collaboration with KVS at ZIET, Mysore. The purpose of this training is to incorporate 21st Century Technology skills in regular teaching.

Now she has started projects with the students on the thinkquest website specially meant for the students and teachers.

 Mr. Rajbansh Paul, Mr. S.M Bhatt, Mr. V. Job and Mr. B.T Ganvit. Ms Geeta Vasava attended the in service course for teachers

 

EDUCATIONAL TRIPS: To ensure that the students get some respite from their routine school activities educational trips were planned for all the levels right from primary to higher secondary level. The trips included visit to parks, dams, ancient temples etc.

 

ECO CLUB: This club has been very active and has conducted slogan writing, painting competitions to create awareness among the students about nature. It also conducted tree plantation, visit to farms, trekking and snake show. I am happy to inform you that the Nature Club has adopted our school and 50 students visited Nature Club Park at Vesu and participated in adventure activities like river crossing, mountain climbing, and other adventures.

 

 

YOGA: Under this ancient science various activities have been conducted for the physical, mental, and spiritual development of students.

 

 

NAEP: The National Adolescence Education programme has been implemented. Talks by eminent doctors were also organized. Dr. Sonia Chandnani gave a very informative Power point Presentation on the problems of Adolescence and also arranged free medical check-up of children.

 

 

ANNUAL INSPECTION OF VIDYALAYA: 

This Vidyalaya was inspected by our worthy Education Officer and team of Principals and I am proud to say that we were marked as OUTSTANDING by the Inspecting team.

 

 

COMMON MINIMUM PROGRAMME: This has been introduced by KVS for qualitative improvement of primary education and our teachers are striving hard to implement various programs and activities throughout the year. Some of the highlights are:

-           School readiness programme for std-1

-          Social Science Exhibition

-          Organizing community lunch; celebration of festivals, celebration of Children’s day and celebration of Grandparents’ day

-          Cluster level sports meet at KV Kribhco.

-          Organizing one day picnic

-          Maths and Science Olympiad

-          This year grandparents day was a real success. Over 150 grandparents of primay section attended the function. Many interesting games, dances and Doctor’s lecture on Health tips were organised in a very impressive way. Corporator sh. Siddharth Sardar graced the occasion as the  chief guest.

 

Alumni  Association ---  The session 2010-11 really proved to be  a milestone  when  all ex teachers and present teachers were honoured by the ex students of this Vidyalaya. They showed the life’s finest gesture by showing indebtedness towards their teachers and school.

 

Visit of Additional  Commissioner  Dr.  Dinesh  Kumar KVS  HQ alongwith  Deputy Commisssioner Smt. L. Chari  in the month of October 2011  was again a very nice opportunity to showcase our Vidyalaya’s  talents.

 

INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT:

All efforts are made for the face lifting of the Vidyalaya. We are highly indebted to Sh.A.J. Shah chairman VMC who helped us a lot for the development of school main garden and school main play ground.

Computer labs are all functioning with broad band connections, LCD projectors and a fully air conditioned room. An Interactive board is also available in the Audio- Visual room.

Complete primary wing and all rooms at ground floor are white washed and oil painted.

Fully equipped Resource  centre  for primary section has been developed with TV, DVD, Digital camera, tape recorder, LCD and computer with broad band connection..

 

 

PROSPECTIVE PLANS: For the current year, I have planned the three targets:

  • Development of front Park with the help of Forest Department.
  • Development of sports ground.
  • Overall development of personality of a child in academics and co curricular activities.

 

It will not be out of place to mention the diligent efforts put in by my dedicated team of teachers and non-teaching staff. Vidyalaya result and all-round development is only because of sincere efforts of my teachers. When alert and cooperative parents and dedicated team of teachers join hands together there is no question of child’s failure in any field. My special thanks goes to all those who have been associated with our Vidyalaya for its progress in one way or the other.

I hope with the blessings of our honourable chairman, Deputy Commissioner of KVS,VMC members, goodwill of our revered parents and society, we will bring laurels to our school and to KVS.
